We will drive past some of Sri Lanka’s most popular and scenic waterfalls during our drive up spiraling mountain roads. Notably you will visit Ramboda waterfalls, which is 109m high and the 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka. We will visit a Tea plantation and Tea Estate where you will be given a detailed tour in understanding the practice that goes into preparing one of the best cups of tea in the world. From plucking of the ‘two leaves and a bud’ to the drying and processing of the final tea leaves to tasting that perfect cup of Ceylon Tea.

Nuwara Eliya, because of its invigorating mountain climate and scenery, is Sri Lanka’s most popular hill resort. Nuwara Eliya is also the heart of Sri Lanka s tea country producing a significant share of the world best tea. Sri Lanka s highest mountain Pidurutalagala (8282 feet) is located here. Nuwara Eliya also has one of the finest 18 hole golf courses in South Asia.

The town was founded by Samuel Baker as a hill retreat for the British during the colonial era, where typical English pastimes including fox hunting, polo and cricket were played.

Many of the buildings retain features from the colonial period, and even new hotels are often built and furnished in the colonial style. Many private homes still maintain their old English-style lawns and gardens.

One of the distinctive features of Nuwara Eliya’s countryside is the widespread growing of vegetables, fruits and flowers usually associated with temperate Europe. “Little England” has a somewhat incongruous conjunction of terraces growing leeks, beetroot and roses, interspersed with tea bushes on the steeper slopes.

What our Explorers have to say about us

t1

"We had an amazing vacation in Sri Lanka, with Chandi as our personal guide throughout. Chandi was very courteous and well informed on not just the history of the island, but also really interesting facts, which he shared with us. He even joined our crew on the white water rafting! Great fun and lots of laughter.... we'd love to visit again."

MICHELLE PARGINOU

"Earlier this month we spent 11 days in Sri Lanka on our own private tour arranged through Ranfer Travels. It was definitely the easiest way to do things, as Mr Chandana arranged everything for us before the trip, from itinerary to accommodation and transport. Our guide for the whole trip was Mr Udesh, who was so knowledgeable about everything in Sri Lanka. This includes the ancient history, the culture, the religion, agriculture, foods, sports - everything! He was more than happy to share his knowledge with us, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the trip. We crammed a lot into our trip, and it simply wouldn't have been possible to do or see as much, if it wasn't for the help of Ranfer travels. So if you're thinking of doing a tour in Sri Lanka, I would really recommend speaking to Ranfer Travels!. "
