In this tour you will explore Sri Lanka’s North Central Province, which was the heart of historical Sri Lanka. Anuradhapure, being a main destination in this tour will take you to Sri Lanka’s first capital, founded in the 4th century BC. This city served as the capital for the Northern region for over 1000 years and was the residence of many kings that rule ancient Sri Lanka. Sigiriya, considered by many Sri Lankans to be the 8th Wonder of the World, will certainly not disappoint any visitor. A visit to the country is not complete without a trip to Pinnawela.

Day 01

A Ranfer Travels Sri Lanka tour guide will await your arrival at the Colombo International Airport (Flight at your own arrangement). Depending on your time of arrival, enjoy a Negombo Tour to discover the Negombo Fishing Village and other fascinating monuments and churches in the region.
Dinner and overnight stay at Paradise Beach Hotel or similar.

Day 02

After Breakfast travel to Kegalle to discover the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage Tour. Pinnawela is home to more than 84 young and old orphaned elephants of Sri Lanka. Afterwards proceed to visit Sigiriya to discover the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, which is another fascinating World Heritage site dating back to the 5th century. This was King Kassapa’s palace in the sky and was once a stronghold for the king who sought refuge from his brother. It remains on a 200 meter high rock with magnificent views of the surrounding jungle.

Day 03

After Breakfast, leave the Hotel for Anuradhapura. Anuradhapura was the first capital of ancient Lanka and features some of the most historical archaeological treasures in Sri Lanka dating back to the 4th century BC. The city is declared a UNESCO World Heritage site that must not be missed.

Later, enjoy a thrilling 4×4 wheel Safari Tour at Minneriya National Park. Dominated by the ancient Minneriya Tank, Minneriya National Park has plenty of scrub and light forest in its 8890 hectares to provide shelter for its toque macaques, s ambar deer, leopards and elephants, just to name a few. Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Kassapa Lion Rock or similar.

Day 04

Travel to Polonnaruwa after breakfast to discover the Ancient City Tour.Polonnaruwa was the second capital of ancient Lanka after Anuradhapura fell and remains one of the best planned archaeological relic sites in the country, standing testimony to the discipline and greatness of the Kingdom’s first rulers. The ancient city of Polonnaruwa has been declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO.Travel to Wilpattu National Park.
Dinner and overnight stay at Palpatha or similar.

Day 05

At dawn enjoy a thrill 4×4 wheel safari tour into Wilpattu National Park. This 131, 693 hectare park is Sri Lanka’s largest and best preserved. Due to the park being a strategic boarder during the conflict many of the park area was out of reach from tourists. This greatly aided in preserving most of the park and protected the animal habitats. This is best described as dense jungle scattered with scrub and salt grass. Elephants here are far shyer compared to its ‘tourist-friendly’ siblings in Yala making it a thrilling adventurous experience. Travelers can expect to see Leopard, Sloth Bear, Deer, Crocodiles and a range of endemic and migratory birds.

Day 06

At dawn enjoy another thrill 4×4 wheel safari tour into Wilpattu National Park.

Day 07

Checkout of your hotel and transfer to Colombo International airport.

Optional: Depending a flight departure time you can enjoy a Colombo City Tour and maybe even a shopping tour of the city.
