Sri Lanka North & East Coast Tour

Day 01

A Ranfer Travel Sri Lanka tour guide will await your arrival at the Colombo International Airport (Flight at your own arrangement). Depending on your time of arrival, enjoy a Colombo City Tour.

Colombo is a cosmopolitan city buzzing with lights, glamour, a splendor of culinary treats to indulge in and a steep cultural heritage like no other. In a Half Day City Tour one will visit places like the Old Parliament, Colombo Fort, Colombo’s ancient trade port in Pettha, Cinnamon Gardens, Galle Face Green, Colombo Museum, Gangarama Temple, BMICH, and more.
Dinner and overnight stay at Galle Face Hotel or similar.

Day 02

After an early breakfast travel to Anuradhapura via Pinnawella Elephant Orphanage tour.

Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage – Started in 1975 to house the abandoned and the wounded elephants, has grown to be the largest of its kind in the world today. This is a unique experience and one that is undoubtedly unforgettable. Visitors to the orphanage can experience the staggering daily march the elephant make to their bathing place to the nearby river, see their feeding rituals and also have a chance to feed the young calves their portion of milk for the day.

Travel to Anuradhapura to explore Lanka’s ancient capital. As the first capital of ancient Lanka Anuradhapura is steeped with many of Sri Lanka’s most prominent historical monuments and places of interest.
Dinner & overnight stay in Shanthi Hotel, Anuradhapura or similar

Day 03

After Breakfast leave the Hotel for Trincomalee, en route Swami Rock, Rama Sita Temple, and Trincomalee Harbor. Trincomalee(Trinco) appeals to tourists primarily as the gateway to the fine Uppuveli and Nilaveli beaches. Possibly the site of historic Gokana in the Mahavamsa (Great Chronicle), the town itself is mildly attractive and is situated around several picturesque bays and rocky peninsulas. Its economic trump card is the world’s third largest deep-water port, also considered to be one of the worlds finest. However, this has made it the target for all manner of foreign attacks: the Danish preceded the Portuguese, who desecrated the city’s holiest Hindu shrine before losing Trinco to the Dutch. By the British takeover in 1795, the city had changed hands another seven times. It suffered further attacks in WWII, this time from Japanese bombing raids. Today the population is a beautiful combination of Tamils, Sinhalese and Muslims. Dinner and overnight stay at Chaaya Blu Trincomalee or similar.

Day 04

After an early Breakfast, leave for a boat safari by 6 am, to Watch the Dolphin and Whales off the east coast of Sri Lanka, return to the hotel by 11 am. Sri Lanka Navy has shifted its whale watching cruises to the Eastern coast with effect from 06th June 2011. This excursion may be offered depending on sailing schedule and season. This is a must-see as a few miles off the coast of Sri Lanka is one of the world’s most popular sites for many whales (including Blue Whales) to feed and breed. On this 5 hour tour guests will also be able to enjoy the thrill of their vessel being guided by a pod of dolphins.

In the evening enjoy a boat ride to the pigeon Island – Pigeon Island is located around 1 km away from the Nilaveli beach. This is consists of two islands, one is small and other one is larger in size. This is one of the best places to see corals and go snorkeling.

Dinner and overnight stay at Chaaya Blu Trincomalee or similar

Day 05

Enjoy a full day at leisure on the beaches of Nilaveli. (It is worth taking it easy on the beaches of Nilaveli. Not only are these the best beaches in Sri Lanka but you have also traveled a long distance to get to Tricomalee and your journey with the tours are a little tiring with more to do)
Dinner and overnight stay at Chaaya Blu Trincomalee or similar.

Day 06

After breakfast travel to the northern most tip of Sri Lanka – Jaffna. Enjoy a City Tour of Jaffna which will include the Jaffna Fort, Nallur Hindu Temple, Old Park, Kachcheri Church, The Jaffna Public Library, Pannai Sea & Jetty, Kandarodai Chunakam for Buddhist Monument
Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Tilko, Jaffna, or similar.

Day 07

After Breakfast visit Thenmarachchi, Vadamarachchi including Point Pedro and Valvettiduari. You will be touring around the Jaffna Peninsula.

Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Tilko, Jaffna, or similar.

Day 08

After breakfast travel to Sigiriya Rock Fortress, known by the locals as the ‘Eighth wonder of the world’. Sigiriya is home to the 5th Century ‘Fortress in the Sky’ which is undoubtedly the most fantastic single wonder of Sri Lanka. Locals in the area also refer to it as the ‘Lion Rock’ because of the huge lion that used to stand at the entrance to the fortress. Today sadly only its giant paws remain. Within its triple-moat defense system the huge rock rises to a sheer height of 500ft. On its summit are the foundations of what was once King Kashyapa’s great and sumptuous palace and gardens complete with swimming pool and cooling systems. On one of the stairways the only known ancient work of Sinhala secular painting survived in the form of frescoes of life sized damsels in all the freshness and delicacy of their original color. It is important to state that Sigiriya was never conquered by any of the invading forces that had such an effect on the island of Sri Lanka. It was however, abandoned to the British during the colonial rule which further added to the citadel’s neglect and deterioration. Afterwards visit a Batik Factory where you can experience the manufacture of this beautiful traditional art form of making Batik prints.

Optional: In the afternoon if time permits enjoy an elephant back safari in Habarana
Dinner & overnight stay in Kassapa Rock, Dambulla or similar

What our Explorers have to say about us

t1

"We had an amazing vacation in Sri Lanka, with Chandi as our personal guide throughout. Chandi was very courteous and well informed on not just the history of the island, but also really interesting facts, which he shared with us. He even joined our crew on the white water rafting! Great fun and lots of laughter.... we'd love to visit again."

"Earlier this month we spent 11 days in Sri Lanka on our own private tour arranged through Ranfer Travels. It was definitely the easiest way to do things, as Mr Chandana arranged everything for us before the trip, from itinerary to accommodation and transport. Our guide for the whole trip was Mr Udesh, who was so knowledgeable about everything in Sri Lanka. This includes the ancient history, the culture, the religion, agriculture, foods, sports - everything! He was more than happy to share his knowledge with us, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the trip. We crammed a lot into our trip, and it simply wouldn't have been possible to do or see as much, if it wasn't for the help of Ranfer travels. So if you're thinking of doing a tour in Sri Lanka, I would really recommend speaking to Ranfer Travels!. "
