Day 01

On arrival, our Ranfer Travels guide will meet you at the airport. After warm Sri Lanka style greetings at the airport, depending on your time of arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel in Wilpattu.

The first stop is in Puttalam, which is home to one of Sri Lanka’s largest lagoons, also called Puttalam lagoon. Here we will visit one of the saltans and then a salt factory. We travel to Chilaw. Chilaw, is a coastal fishing town with a strong Roman Catholic influence. The heart of the city offers elaborate statues to religious figures and local cardinals. Just on the outskirts of this town is Munneswaram Hindu Temple which is a prominent center for pilgrims for both Hindu and Buddhists alike. Travel to Wilpattu.

Day 02

After an early breakfast visit the Wilpattu National Park (Willu-pattu; Land of Lakes) for a thrilling 4×4 safari ride at dawn.

Wilpattu National Park is a 131,693 hectare park is Sri Lanka’s largest and undoubted one of the best preserved. Due to the park being a strategic located during the conflict, many area of the park was out of reach from visitors for decades. This greatly aided in preserving most of the park and protected the animal life there. Elephants here are far shyer compared to its ‘tourist-friendly’ siblings in Yala making it a truly thrilling adventurous experience for the discerning wildlife buff. Travelers can expect to see Leopard, Sloth Bear, Deer, Crocodiles and a range of endemic and migratory birds.

Optional – Enjoy an evening safari ride into the park. Optional 2 – Do a full day execution through the park to visit Place of Kuweni (Thambapanni), and Kudiramalai where King Vijaya first landed on the island. Enroute you will be able to enjoy the wildlife, the view from the coast from there, and remains of the late Mr Nihal De Silva’s jeep. This will be a tough trek as it’s a full day in the park. You will have to organize for plenty of water, snacks and packed lunch (we can organize this with the resort), and brace yourself with the toilet stops. It will be a true call of nature.

Day 03

Travel to Jaffna – Enjoy the day at leisure and sight see around Jaffna town on your own.

Day 04

After breakfast depart for a city tour of Jaffna, which includes the Jaffna Main bus stand – Jaffna fort – Alfred Duraiaappah Stadium – Clock tower – Jaffna Library – High Court – Ariyakulam Buddhist Temple – Nallur Temple – Jamunari Bottomless well – Manthirimanai (King Sangilians Place). You will then proceed to Oddtumadam, through Araly Road, Karaingar – Casuarina Beach. The return journey will be through Mathagal – Keerimalai Tank – Mavettapuram Knathasami Kovil – Thellipalai Amman Kovil – Chuunakam – Kantharodai and finally through KKS Road to Jaffna University and back to the hotel.

Day 05

After Breakfast depart hotel for Nagadeepa Purana Vihara.

After an hours’ driver through the Pannai Bridge and Lagoon, you will reach the chatty Beach – from here another half and hours’ drive will take you to the Kurikattuwan Jetty – from this point you will be taken on a boat ride to Nainatheevu Island – Nagapooshani Amman Kovil – Nagatheepa Buddhist Temple. At the Nagapooshani Amman Temple youcan enjoy a vegetarian lunch. On the return journey to the hotel you stop at chatty Beach. After Lunch you will leave for a tour of Point Pedro, then Valvettethurai (VVT – Prabakaran’s birth pace) from there to the Thondamaanaaru Selvasannithi Kovil (similar to Katharagama). Then to Vallai bridge Achcuveli – Nelavarai well and back through Rajaveethi returning to Jaffna Town.

Day 06

Today we leave to Mullaitive. After breakfast check out of your hotel and leave to Kilinochchi through Elephant pass, after one and a half hours drive you will reach Elephant Pass (The War Remembrance Monument, Hasalaka Gamini Memorial and the damaged LTTE war tank) after half and hours drive you will reach Kilinochchi (War Remembrance wall, the war affected areas and the damaged water tank). From here you will proceed to Eranaimadu water tank. Thereafter you will be taken to see the famous Murikandi Kovil and will have lunch in the area. Proceed to Mullaitive.

Day 07

After breakfast enjoy a visit to discover other War remnants in the Mullaitive area which include an unfinished submarine, vehicle grave yard, base camp and the no-fire zone.

Enjoy the evening at leisure in Mullaitive.

Day 08

After breakfast proceed to Batticloa.

Visit the prominent places around the Batticloa town. Enjoy the evening at leisure at Passikuda. The roads on the east coast are excellent and it will certainly be a pleasant drive.

Day 09

After breakfast proceed to Mahiyanganaya and visit the Mahiyanganaya Temple.

This is an interesting region where you will also cross the new 18 hair-pin bend road.

After breakfast transfer to Colombo international airport for your onward journey. We recommend for your flight to be scheduled for the evening departure.
