This 5 day classic Buddhist Pilgrimage tour package will take you through Sri Lanka’s key Buddhist sights and is designed for you to get the most of your limited time in Sri Lanka. You can witness Sri Lankan magical beauty and drive through Kandy –the ancient city of the last kingdom of Sri Lanka. Your drive through the island will give you a glimpse into the day-to-day hustle and bustle of the country and have plenty of time to explore the key Buddhist monuments with time for your religious rights.

Day 01

A Ranfer Travels Sri Lanka tour guide will await your arrival at the Colombo International Airport (Flight at your own arrangement). Travel to Anuradhapura. Enjoy a local Rice & Curry Lunch on the way.

In the afternoon visit Aukana Buddha the stone statue of Lord Buddha and its vicinity. The Aukana Buddha is a colossal 38 feet Buddha statue cut out of stone which rises to a height of 11.36 meters. It is assigned to the 8th century AD. And is located near the Kala Wewa (reservoir) and was erected during the reign of King Dathusena.

Check in to your hotel in DULAYA HOTEL or similar in Anuradhapura

Visit the Anuradhapura Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi Temple a sampling from the tree where lord Buddha received his enlightenment. This branch of the original tree was brought from India and is the oldest recorded tree that stands today in the world. Prayers and meditation sessions and offerings of Flowers by devotees.

Dinner and Overnight stay at the DULAYA HOTEL Anuradhapura or similar.

Day 02

After breakfast, enjoy a City tour of Anuradhapura and visit some of its most venerated a prominent Temples & Pagodas in the region. After Lunch visit the historical sites of Polonnaruwa, the 2nd ancient capital of Lanka. Travel to Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a renowned UNESCO World Heritage site and is locally accepted as the 8th Wonder of the world.

Climb the 2200 steps to the plateau of the Sigiriya Rock, where you can marvel at the breath taking views of this lush landscape.

Dinner and Overnight stay at the Sigiriya Rest Dambulla or similar.

Day 03

After breakfast, proceed to Kandy via Matale Spice Gardens

On arrival in Kandy check into your hotel. In the early afternoon, enjoy a City tour of Kandy (Note: All devotees wishing to enter the Chambers of the Tooth Temple must wear pure white cloths to enter this restricted area. Please note that attire must be respectful and for more information please contact your Target Travels representative) Enjoy a Traditional Cultural Dance show in the evening.

There after we will visit the Dalada Maligawa or Sacred Tooth Relic Temple for worship and prayers. Meditation, offering of flowers and other religious undertakings.

Dinner and overnight stay at Hill Top Hotel Kandy or similar.

Day 04

After an early breakfast checkout of your hotel and travel to Colombo, the Commercial Capital of Sri Lanka. En route visit the Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihare Temple, which lord Buddha had visited to solve the dispute between 2 brothers, Cholodara & Mahodara. This temple is an ancient temple and is one of the holiest temples in Sri Lanka.

In the afternoon enjoy a City Tour of Colombo and a visit to the Gangaramaya Temple.

Gangaramaya is a colourful temple near the Beira Lake. The temple complex is home to a resident tusker and a small Museum housing an eclectic collection of gifts and religious items. This temple becomes very lively during the Navam Perahera in February every year. We will also visit the Sima Malak temple which floats in the heart of Beira Lake and was designed by Sri Lanka’s renowned architect, Geoffrey Bawa.

If time permits we can enjoy a shopping tour at some of Colombo’s most popular shopping haunts. Dinner and overnight stay at JANAKI HOTEL or similar.

Day 05

Checkout of your hotel and transfer to Colombo International airport. Your tour of Sri Lanka ends here. Have a nice flight and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Note: Hotel stipulates checkout is before 12:00hrs noon time. Late Checkout between 12:00-18:00 requires half of the room rate. Any checkout after 18:00 will cost one extra night room rate.
